Carson Pass Snowshoe Hike
(View Photos) December 27, 2008 More new snow since last weekend and the hiking conditions were superb. From the pass we headed up to the ridge at the back of Elephant's Back, then down to Winnemucca Lake and back. Very scenic hike! |

Cache Creek to Fiske Peak Hike

of hike) November 15, 2008 We couldn't have asked for a nicer day for a hike from Cache Creek Canyon up the Blue Ridge to Fiske Peak. Distance was around 8 miles and around 2500 feet of elevation gain. Several nice photo ops along the way - Cache Creek was particularly nice in the late afternoon. |

Napa Valley Fall Color Shoot
(View Photos) November 2, 2008 With clouds moving in over the Napa Valley I thought this would be a good opportunity to get some nice fall color shots of the valley, especially of the grape leaves which can be spectacular this time of year. |

Independence Mine Trail Hike
(View Photos) October 25, 2008 This was a hike following the Independence Mine Trail along the South Fork Yuba River up to Hoyt Crossing where we stopped for lunch. Beautiful fall day with lots of nice color along the way. |

Point Reyes Wilderness Hike
(View Photos) September 6, 2008 Bruce, Jerry, and I decided we needed a change of scenery and cooler temperatures so we headed for the coast. On this hike we followed Bear Valley out to Arch Rock, then up the Coast Trail to Kelham Beach. From there we took the Sky Trail to Mt. Wittenburg, then back to the Visitor Center. Great companions, great hike! |

Glacier Lake Hike

of hike) August 30, 2008 This was our first hike to Glacier Lake, which lies about 6 miles to the east of the Lindsey Lakes area north of Emigrant Gap. Alas, nothing but blue in the sky but a great day for hiking nonetheless. |

Rockbound Pass Hike
(View Photos) August 23, 2008 Bruce, Moody and I decided it was time for a Desolation Wilderness hike and this was one of our favorites from last year. The weather was perfect for hiking and we were fortunate to have some nice clouds coming through at the pass. |

Sunset on the Delta
(View Photos) August 16, 2008 This was a planned photo shoot in the Sacramento Delta region with the Sierra Club Photo Section. As we were driving along Grand Island Road near Walnut Grove it became apparent that a nice sunset was shaping up and of course we stopped and set up. |

Wildflower Show Between Woods
and Winnemucca Lakes
(View Photos) July 5, 2008 The high Sierra wildflower show is certainly in full bloom this year. As you will see in these photos, the color, abundance, and variety are almost unbelievable. For this photo shoot I decided to use only my 10-20 ultra-wide zoom. All shots were taken within a short hike (1 -1.5 miles) from Woods Lake along the Winnemucca Lake trail. |

Trees on Donner Summit
(View Photos) June 21, 2008 Bruce and I decided to hike up to Donner Summit, Mt. Judah, and possibly Anderson Peak. We got lucky with some really great clouds and spent a lot of time shooting on Donner; hence we only got part of the way to Anderson. Fun hike, you missed a good one Moody! |

Hetch Hetchy Hike and Yosemite

of hike) May 10 - 11, 2008 This was my first hike at Hetch Hetchy Reservoir. Bruce and I decided to push on to Rancheria Falls making this a 13.5 mile round trip. Stunning scenery, need less to say! Both Wapama and Rancheria Falls were spectacular. Of course, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to shoot Yosemite Valley at sunrise the next morning. |

Photo Workshop at Salt Point
State Park
(View Photos) April 18 - 20, 2008 This was a weekend photography workshop hosted by Jennifer Wu and Wendy Desormeaux at Salt Point State Park 18 miles north of Jenner. This was my second year participating in this workshop and I was still amazed by the diversity - redwoods, wonderful carved rocky beaches. Great place for photography. |

Photos) March 29, 2008 This was a photo shoot sponsored by the Sierra Club and led by Warren Wittich. We first visited the Honey Run covered bridge near Oroville and then the Oregon City Bridge near Table Mountain. We spent the rest of the day shooting wildflowers on Table Mountain's plateau. |

Photos) March 1, 2008 Bruce and I decided to head up to Carson Pass since neither of us had snow shoed here so far this season. It was a great day for photography but very windy. We followed the normal trail from the parking lot back to Winnemucca Lake for lunch, then back. Interesting photo ops everywhere!!! |

Castle Peak
Area and Andesite Peak
(View Photos) January 26, 2008 Paul, Bruce, and I went snow shoeing up to and over the Castle Peak ridge with a lunch stop at the Peter Grubb hut and then up to Andesite Peak on the way back. The snow conditions were awesome. As soon as we got off trail we were in light fluffy snow up to our knees, or deeper - great fun!!! |
